Eclipse Mailing List

Eclipse Mailing List

Thanks to the volunteer efforts of Barry McLarnon, we now have an "Eclipse Mailing List" (or listserver for the more technical folks) that will allow easy e-mail communication between people who are interested in sharing information, ideas, questions, and answers about eclipses, especially total solar eclipses. As Barry says:

"Welcome to the eclipse enthusiasts mailing list!  This list was created for discussion of anything related to eclipses, but especially the biggies: total solar eclipses.  Use it to let your fellow crazies know about pictures or eclipse info you've put on the web, or what your plans are to get to the next one.  Maybe it will help keep alive that buzz we got on Feb 26/98, until we can get our next fix!"

How to subscribe to the eclipse mailing list

To subscribe to the list, go to http://hydra.carleton.ca/mailman/listinfo/eclipse and follow the instructions there.

Recommended "etiquette" for the eclipse mailing list

Please observe traditional mailing list etiquette by restricting your messages to subjects concerning eclipses and refraining from abusive messages or language. Messages describing commercial products or offerings are OK as long as the subject relates to eclipses and you do not use the mailing list for excessive self-promotion. Thanks.

Also, keep in mind that there are a wide variety of mail programs in use, and not all of them can handle attachments, inline images, HTML, and the like. It's best to stick to basic ASCII text on the mailing list, and save the fancy stuff for your Web pages - but don't forget to pass along the URL!
