Q. How
did you get interested in eclipses?
A. When working as a technical writer/editor at Boeing in
the late seventies, I was browsing the reference books in
Boeing's Kent library at lunchtime one day. At the time, I had
been talking to some college friends about getting together for a
reunion. During this period, I was continuing my studies in
Pyramid Energy, as an instructor at the University of
Washington's Experimental College. My inquiries into the geometry
of Egypt's Great Pyramid
suggested that the timing of eclipses might be connected with the
mathematical proportions embodied in this ancient monument. This
curiosity led me to an encyclopedia article on eclipses that
showed that the last total solar eclipse visible from North
America for 35 years, would occur on Feb. 26, 1979, right here in
the Pacific Northwest! The fact that my son Devin's birthday was
also February 26 gave an extra impetus to do something special
for this event. So I began planning the reunion, and from the
excitement and interest that was generated, the idea for writing
the book ECLIPSE evolved.
